Visiting South Korean President to the UAE to target Nuclear

Welcome Meeting again now I will tell you about the foreign news ... SEOUL, (PRLM) .- South Korean President Lee Myung-bak on Saturday (26/12), visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in an effort to win one contract of nuclear power in the world's largest.

The UAE is expected to submit a contract worth 40 billion dollars for the construction of several nuclear reactors "may be at the beginning of next week", according to industry sources.



A consortium of South Korea, Korea Electric Power Corp.. (KEPCO), Hyundai Engineering and Construction, Samsung C & T Corp. and Doosan Heavy Industries is trying to reach an agreement that the largest energy plant in the Middle East.

Other companies try to obtain the tender was a consortium including General Electric Co. and Westinghouse Electric, a company subsidized Toshiba, and the French consortium led by EDF and GDF Suez, also including Areva and oil group Total.

Lee plans to hold high level meetings with the President of the UAE, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed an-Nahyan, during the two-day visit, said the presidential Blue Palace South Korea in a statement.

"But it is unclear whether South Korea will get the final contract to build nuclear power plants, and President Lee's visit to the UAE is part of a high-level diplomacy to reach the final ticket in the tender," said Lee's office.

The UAE is the third-largest oil exporter and the world, but plans to build several nuclear reactors to meet the estimated needs, with an additional 40,000 megawatts.

Ministry of Trade and Energy of South Korea, Monday, said it would focus on the nuclear reactor in 2010, and increase the work plan for the development of a nuclear reactor with independent technologies, such as outlined in the policy next year.
